Arrington Participates in Carr’s Wash 4 Kids

Though I never really believed he was in serious danger of being kicked off the team (save further misbehavior), Adrian Arrington has participated in his first activity as a football player since being indefinitely suspended. This indicates that he is either out of the doghouse, or as close to it as possible (i.e. no longer near the brink of elimination).

Hooray for Woodley

Lamarr Woodley is looking very good in Steelers practices. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, his improvement is unprecedented for someone going through his position change (DE to 3-4 OLB) when making the jump to the NFL. Woodley has thus far outshone the Steelers’ first pick, ILB Lawrence Timmons from Florida State.

Carr’s Wash for Kids Tomorrow

The annual Carr’s Wash for Kids event, during which you can pay $25 to have your car washed by UM football players, takes place from 12:30 to 2 PM. All proceeds go to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, which has been the benefactor of much Carr generosity in the past.

It’s a good way to have fun and support a good cause before heading to your local sports bar to catch the UM baseball team take on the Beavers of Oregon State at 3:0 PM.

DT Commitment

Georgia DT Omar Hunter, he of the imminent commitment, instead pledged his word to become a Fighting Irish… man, citing depth chart issues. However, Michigan instead picked up a commitment from instate DT Mike Martin, from DCC.

Hunter’s offer list is far more impressive than Martin’s, with notable names like USC, Oklahoma, and Florida hard on his trail (and a top 5 of UM, ND, USC, OSU, & UF), but no worries – those in the know say Martin’s lack of offers was due more to underexposure than being a far inferior player.

Martin is a wrestler in high school,
much like Terrance Taylor, and OL commitment Dan O’Neill. In fact, Martin was the state 285-lb champion (in a bracket that also featured O’Neill, the 7th-place finisher).

Marcus Witherspoon commits

NJ Linebacker Marcus Witherspoon has committed to Michigan He was mentioned in yesterday’s recruiting recap.

Witherspoon, who had his unofficial visit to Ann Arbor this weekend, projects as a Will linebacker. He had already been on campus once with his high school coach, but his dad came along on this visit as well. When dad liked the place as much as Marcus, he committed.

Also along for the weekend was fellow NJ Linebacker J.B. Fitzgerald. All reports are that Fitzgerald enjoyed his visit as well, but he intends to take some official visits (USC among them) before making his final decision.

Georgia DT Omar Hunter was also in town, and was expected to commit shortly after his visit. He has indicated that he will make his announcement this weekend, regardless of where he decides to commit. Expect another post in this fashion if (when?) he goes Blue.

McGuffie-palooza

Sam McGuffie, Tex. RB, is Michigan’s top prospect and #1 at the position this year. McGuffie’s team, Cy-Fair in metro Houston, will be on ESPN2 October 18th as they take on their rivals of Cy-Falls.

(famed) YouTube clips of Sam:
THE Leap (most famed of them all)
McGuffie Mixtape (someone with the editing abilities of a 6-year-old put rap songs behind almost all of Sam’s clips and didn’t edit to the music. This one contains pretty much all of the best clips)
Another leap (this one shot with a poor-quality camera, and less impressive)
Receiving TD (not in the highlights video, and only reception of his I’ve seen on YouTube)

McGuffie will be in Ann Arbor starting June 9th. His father will be with him as well. It is expected that Texans Troy Woolfolk and Brandon Herron will be in town for their orientation sessions, and they will assist in recruiting him, as well as their high school teammate, rising senior Darryl Stonum. Ryan Mallett will be in town as well (the whole summer?), and is expected to aid in recruiting duties as well.

Most of my information comes from scout, and I pay little to no attention to Rivals. Also, I do not follow religiously, so I’m sure I’ve missed out on a couple of guys. If you have any questions, additions, etc., please feel free to leave them in the comments.
