MGoBlue gets shitty makeover

Witnesses in the Ann Arbor area have reported to Varsity Blue that the Michigan Athletic Department’s official website, MGoBlue.com, recently began looking “unlike itself.” Varsity Blue, acting on this tip, sent an investigative team to the site.

Upon arrival, suspicions were confirmed. MGoBlue, formerly functional, unique, and aesthetically appealing, has been stripped of these key features. Instead of the previous design, which could be described as “pragmatic, yet cute,” the site now features a near-replica of the CSTV format (used for such sites as those of Notre Dame and Michigan State), which observers have noted “makes my eyes want to kill me” and “sucks.”

Varsity Blue will provide further details in this story as they unfold.

Back in the Saddle

Long time no post, sorry about that.

While I was out of town, Carlos Brown reportedly broke his hand in practice, though WOTS is that he’ll be back by the beginning of the season.

Coming soon:

1) Position previews of the Michigan team
2) Appalachian State preview
3) Fisher Stadium construction update

For today, I’ll leave you with part 2 of “The Stadium Atmosphere,” this time relating to the cheerleaders. Are there such people as cheerleading nerds for me to piss off?

Programming update

Hooray for fun things that are going to inhabit this space in the next week!

1) More parts in the “Stadium Atmosphere” series, so that band members can realize that I’m really not trying to pick on them.
2) Fred Smith coverage (assuming he announces for the good guys tomorrow).
3) Media day coverage on Monday.
4) Big Ten Network Open House Wednesday.
5) More things that I forgot.
6) Any other fun news that may or may not come up.

…and there was much rejoicing.

The Stadium Atmosphere

Soon, I’ll be starting a series about things that I think need to be improved for the home field advantage and general atmosphere on Michigan gamedays to be improved. There will be a lot of overlap, so bear with me.

Michigan’s current home field advantage is lacking, not only behind traditionally great stadiums like The Swamp and Death Valley, but also Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Wisconsin, and even Notre Dame.

While much of the blame is placed on the stadium’s structure, there is much more to it than that. Notre Dame Stadium is a carbon copy of the Big House, but much smaller, and the advantage there is much better. It’s a general attitude within the stadium and the fanbase in general that could be improved to help out.

Part One, featuring the band, will come tomorrow (unless there is some real news). The other parts will come whenever there is nothing more pertinent to post about.
